Things to Know for 2021 Events
While the pandemic hasn't ended, things are looking brighter for the upcoming golf season. The UMNGC is planning for a full schedule this year although we will likely still be doing many of the procedures for events like digital scorecard submissions and social distancing for much of the year.
The membership application is updated for 2021 and we are going to be allowing non-members in two of our early events. This will be a great opportunity for golfers on the fence to see what our course and club is like during an individual and team event. Please be sure to register via Golf Genius, which has a new link for the 2021 Season: Golf Genius. Please also use a bank account linked PayPal profile and select the friends and family option when submitting your event fees.
We have a series of local rules posted for our events during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Please review them and be aware of local rules for bunkers, flagsticks, definition of holed and scoring. Don Vegoe will be at the first tee for our first event to hand out a scorecard to the group's official scorer and review the rules.
Until otherwise notified, we'll be operating under the same rules as last year, so please do not arrive more than 20 minutes before your tee time and be aware that the putting green and range will not always be available for praticing before an event.
2021 Schedule and membership forms
We have finalized our 2021 Schedule of Competition and our 2021 Membership Application PDF and Google Form. The earliest course opening of March 12 that happened in 2016 could always happen this year, but we will see. We're just hopeful the course is ready for our first event.
Please note that it is essential for members to ensure they are following to proper procedures for PayPal payments or they will be returned. Of course checks to the UMNGC are always accepted.
The Minnesota Public Golf Association conducts numberous events over the course of the season. Our club is participating in the 12 Man East Match Play competition this season. There are many other statewide events that you can get more information at the MPGA Website.
Also you can visit the MGA Website for information on their amateur events and MGA Member Days -- there are great events at TPC Twin Cities on May 26, Northland CC on June 29, Dacotah Ridge GC on July 12-13, Lafayette Club on August 10 and White Bear Yacht Club on August 17.
We will continue using the World Handicap System which brings many changes including new GHIN programs. The new and improved GHIN Mobile App is now available to be downloaded. Remove or update your current GHIN Mobile app in order to see the new changes. Online score posting is now accepting scores for those playing in an area observing an active season. Visit the MGA World Handicap System resource page for more information.
